First Cloud Deployment - Connections
On Tuesday, March 25th the first cloud application went live. The release is a new version of the Internal Directory for Harvard. The application is known today as Harvard Connections, and it is accessed from the public directory homepage at www.directory.harvard.edu or at connections.harvard.edu.
New features include:
- improved searching
- simplified display and navigation
- cleaner display on mobile devices
The release of this project represents our first end-user application to be fully deployed to the cloud. This is doubly significant as it achieves the HUIT FY14 Top 40 Strategic Goal to "Experiment with new technologies and new service delivery models" with the objective "Deploy a community-facing application to the cloud."
Michael Liu said the following to the IAM team after the release: "Thanks for everyone's great work on this. It's our first application in the cloud!"
