# Salesforce Implementation

April 09, 2014

After discussing the different CRM systems and their capabilities, the multiple HUIT projects agreed that Salesforce is the system of choice. And as such, the implementation of Salesforce across the IAM team became a priority.

In the interest of learning more about the system and how folks outside of Harvard use it, the IAM team set out to attend multiple events and meetings for further discussion.

On April 2nd, Gretchen Grozier and Masha Shoykhet attended the Salesforce 1 World Tour conference in Boston. Some of the features at the conference were hundreds of live demos, exclusive Salesforce ecosystem networking reception, a Cloud Expo with 30+ leading Cloud Partners, and a Keynote from Keith Block, salesforce.com President. The event represented a great opportunity to hear from folks that are experts on the Salesforce system. All of the IAM folks that attended acknowledged that the conference was an excellent method to start hearing how the Salesforce structure is being utilized nationally.

Following that conference on April 3rd, managing directors for the IAM team visited Northeastern to have a discussion on how each school is currently using Salesforce. The different universities at the meeting were Harvard, Northeastern, Cornell and Tufts. Each school is at different point in their implementation, but all of the groups involved were happy to get together and talk strategy, issues and lessons learned.

And on April 16th, the second HUIT Enterprise Salesforce Implementation Discussion will take place. This meeting will be used to examine the opportunity to create a consolidated Salesforce implementation at Harvard.
